The CEO of Goldman Sachs has taken to social media by tweeting for the first time. His tweet was in response to President Trump’s decision to pull away from the Paris Climate Agreement. Lloyd Blankfein believes that the decision is only a step backward for the climate as well as for the leadership decisions of the United States over the rest of the world.
While this is the CEO’s first tweet, it’s not the first time that he has taken a stand against President Trump. He was against the travel ban as soon as it was put in place. Blankfein has always made it known that he is in support of Hillary Clinton and that he wanted her to be in the White House instead of Donald Trump.
There are a few people who are involved with the government who are linked to Goldman Sachs, which could pose an issue in the future. Gary Cohn is a White House financial advisor, securing the position after leaving Sachs.
Several other CEOs from major businesses across the country have also voiced their opinions about the climate decision. Leaders of companies like General Electric, Google and Chevron have pleaded with President Trump not to pull away from the agreement, but their cries were left unheard.
