They hit the stage wearing all black. Some sported tattoos, some had shades, one had a ballcap worn sideways, another showed off his big muscles. A pretty tough looking group, one you might expect to be working security at a concert, not performing in one.
But Linkin’ Bridge did perform on the season opener for “America’s Got Talent.” After introducing themselves to the judges, they broke into an acapella version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Seconds after the song began, many of the “AGT” judges had amazed looks on their faces.
When they hit the high note on, “You’ll find me,” the audience erupted with applause. When Linkin’ Bridge finished with their rendition, they received a huge ovation from the crowd, and the four embraced one another. No surprise, the “America’s Got Talent” judges – Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Mel B. – raved about their performance and voted them onto the next round of competition.
Linkin’ Bridge is made up of four childhood friends who began singing together at a young age. The foursome decided to participate in this season “America’s Got Talent” because it was a dream of group member Montree Davis. Their song choice, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” was made famous in the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz. “AGT” is now in its 11th season and airs Tuesday nights on NBC.
