For the last eight years, the United States of America was run by President Barack Obama with his wife Michelle by his side. On January 20th, 2017, Obama’s time in the White House ended and Donald J. Trump was ushered in as the 45th President of the United States of America.
During former President Obama’s outgoing speech at the Inauguration, he announced the first new project that he and Michelle will be devoting their time to now that they no longer have a country to run- The Obama Foundation.
The Obama Foundation will be based out of Chicago, their hometown, and will help with other projects around the country and the rest of the world. The Obama Foundation is going to be more than a museum or a library, according to the speech given by Barack Obama.
They plan on working closely with communities and individuals to help build programs that will teach and encourage others to become citizens as well as inspire young leaders. They are currently taking suggestions for projects on their site under the “Your Voice” section.
The Obamas announced that before they begin diving into their work with The Obama Foundation, they will be taking a much needed vacation to relax and unwind.
