There are some things at the bottom of the sea that might need to be left alone. A group of explorers discovered a face at the bottom of the ocean while they were swimming. At first, they thought it was just an animal swimming in the water.
Some people feel like they are being watched, and when they turn to see who is behind them, there’s no one there. If you’re in the water, that’s a little more creepy as there shouldn’t be anyone to watch you. These explorers were wearing their scuba gear when they saw the eyes of a human face in the water.
Not knowing what to think of the face, they began to look a little closer. Soon, they saw that it was a statue. This statue was over 1,000 years old when it was found. Instead of one statue, the group discovered an entire city under the ocean.
The city was called Heracleion, and it was swept away by the waters of the ocean about 1,200 years ago. Some thought that the city was simply a myth until the explorers discovered the statues. Some of the statues found were 15 feet tall and made of red granite.
