Elizabeth Warren, In One Tweet, Explains Why We All Love And Will Miss Jon Stewart So Much

Millions of people were saddened by Jon Stewart’s retirement from The Daily Show. He was a new icon that helped to transform an entire generation’s political viewpoints, and now with his leaving the show, there is a big gap left in American political commentary. What could make us feel any better about it? Senator Elizabeth Warren did it in 24 words. On Wednesday, she tweeted:

“Washington is rigged for the big guys – and no person has more consistently called them out for it than Jon Stewart. Good luck, Jon!”

Senator Warren is a big fan of The Daily Show, and had appeared on the show in 2009 when she was merely a Harvard Law School Professor. She choked the first time she was on the show, and the interview was reportedly underwhelming. After the interview, the show was headed to the last commercial break.

Jon Stewart gave Senator Warren another shot to make her point that night. He asked her to make the most important point that she wanted to convey – in one sentence. Wednesday she proved that she can also convey, in one sentence, an important message about Jon Stewart, The Daily Show, and the state of politics in America as well.

She was on the show again in 2014 and was able to deliver a much stronger interview. Jon Stewart and Senator Elizabeth Warren had both become icons of calling out Washington ‘big guys.’
