Appearing on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MASS) delivered critical blows to the Republican front-runner and the widely believed myths about his financial achievements and business expertise.
“Let’s be real clear. Donald Trump is looking out for exactly one guy. And that guy’s name is Donald Trump.”
“The truth is, he inherited a fortune from his father, he kept it going by cheating and defrauding people, and then he takes his creditors through Chapter 11.”
Elizabeth Warren went on to reject the notion that Donald Trump is a successful businessman saying, “He is not a business success, he is a business loser.”
“When the economy is in this kind of trouble,” she stated, “calling on Donald Trump for help is like if your house is on fire, calling an arsonist to come help out.”
She also claimed that Trump had broken the law, but just hadn’t “been caught.”
Trump has repeatedly touted his success and business prowess, and perpetuated the myth that he is a wonderful dealmaker that can “fix” the American economy. Estimates by MarketWatch claim that Trump has consistently underperformed during his 40 years of making deals, and has left approximately $13 billion on the table throughout his career.
In fact, he’s filed for bankruptcy four times and regularly overestimates his personal wealth. His proposed tax plan would actually increase the national debt to $34 trillion dollars.
In addition to the numbers and the reality of Trump’s business inadequacy, his growing ignorance, racist views, and his narcissistic tendencies all combine to make him one of the most unqualified Presidential candidates in our nation’s history.
