Dog Swam For 6 Miles After Falling Off Boat, Then Walks Another 12 To Reunite With Family

A young dog named Rylee is thankful to be home and is no doubt getting plenty of extra love from her family thanks to her determination to survive and the help of thousands of good Samaritans.

Rylee, a 10-month-old Belgian Malinois, was in Michigan on a boating vacation with her pet parents Edward and Kristen. Their boat started to experience electrical problems while they were on the water. Edward went to try to fix the problem while Kristen remained behind in the cabin. Each of them thought that Rylee was with the other. Edward and Kristen were horrified when they realized that their beloved dog was nowhere to be found. They issued a frantic mayday call to report that Rylee had fallen overboard.

The Lost Dog Search Team leapt into action and posted an urgent plea on social media for people to be on the lookout for Rylee. The post quickly garnered more than 20,000 views. The team soon received a response that a dog matching Rylee’s description had been spotted at a nearby campground.

Edward and Kristen rushed to the scene and were relieved to find that the dog was indeed their Rylee. What makes Rylee’s story even more remarkable is that she had to swim nearly six miles in order to reach land, which is a testament to her will to survive. Edward and Kristen are glad to have Rylee back home safe and sound and are holding her especially close.
