Dan Rather, Legendary Reporter, RIPS Trump For Threatening Hillary In This Epic Takedown

Presidential candidate Donald Trump seems to be offending everyone lately. In fact, there is a very high possibility everyone will be offended by something he says or does come November. If you aren’t, you might even feel offended you never got your turn to be offended by the Trump machine! Unfortunately, the latest piece of filth to float from the lips of Trump involves inciting others to violence against government officials. Thankfully, the legendary reporter Dan Rather wasn’t going to let that comment slide by unchallenged.

In case you didn’t hear, Donald Trump discussed the Second Amendment at a rally. He pointed out, rightly, that if Hillary were elected, she would get to appoint new members to the Supreme Court. Trump also correctly stated these nominees would most likely fight to reduce the rights of gun owners. With a third correct comment, Trump reminded the crowd there would be nothing gun owners could do to addresses any actions by the Supreme Court. In other words, the court could overturn or repeal any law to protect the rights of gun owners made by the will of the people. A handful of appointed government officials, clothed in black with expensive Ivy League degrees to their names, could limit a constitutional right and overturn democracy.

The above statements are all correct, and they should be rightly upsetting to law abiding gun owners. However, it was here Trump veered into the despicable. Trump followed up his statements by implying regular people couldn’t do anything about the Supreme Court, but “Second Amendment people” could. Trump supporters suggest this was a casual joke. However, others in the country see it as an invitation to violence. These people are saying Trump is encouraging gun owners to murder people sitting on the Supreme Court. If that sounds like a far-fetched interpretation of Trump’s casual comment, keep in mind that the legendary reported Dan Rather took it very seriously. Posting on Facebook, Dan Rather wrote:

“To anyone who still pretends this is a normal election of Republican against Democrat, history is watching. And I suspect its verdict will be harsh. Many have tried to do a side-shuffle and issue statements saying they strongly disagree with his rhetoric but still support the candidate. That is becoming woefully insufficient.”

Dan Rather continues in his post to question if today’s media will take Trump to task regarding his most recent comments. In the past, journalists and reporters have been all to happy to leapfrog from one outrageous Trump quote to another in pursuit of higher Internet traffic and higher television ratings. Now is the time to actually call Trump out on his words and actually do something.

Dan Rather continues by challenging the citizens of America to be better than this. To inspire people to turn away from Trump and his messages, he turns to the words of Abraham Lincoln:

‘We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.'”

Dan Rather is taking the press to task for letting Trump rise to power. He is also encouraging people to stop him. What do you think of Trump’s comments and Dan Rather’s ripping response? Do you think Trump is really asking people to kill others? Let us know in the comments below.
