People with disabilities face many challenges throughout their daily lives, and often the general public isn’t as considerate or respectful towards them as we should be. This was the case in Texas when a disables veteran almost had his car towed by some quick-to-judge trouble maker.
The neighbor left a handwritten note on the man’s windsheild that he’d called for the car to be towed because he didn’t see any handicapped stickers on the car. The passive-aggressive-note-writer alleged that he’d taken a picture of the veteran’s license plate and sent it to the police. The veteran responded by typing the neighbor a response and leaving it outside, where his grumpy neighbor would surely find it. Here’s the response:
just because the veteran may looks able bodied, his injuries in combat have left him dealing with excruciating pain whenever he walks. The veteran’s hilarious response to his rude neighbor’s threat is truly an indicator of how someone who’s faced a lot f pain and hardship, even discrimination, can still keep their sense of humor.
By jumping to conclusions about what a disabled person ought to look like, the nosy-note-writer showed great disrespect towards an American veteran who’d received injuries fighting for “our safety”. Hopefully this neighbor who wrote that nasty note thinks twice before he jumps to harsh conclusions about people he doesn’t know anything about.
