An Airman Walks Through A Crowd Playing A Horn – Who Joins Her Next? Unbelievable!

The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum hosts many visitors every year for a number of events and exhibits. Last year though, something very surprising happened at the museum to commemorate the holidays. And it was fantastic! It all started when a single airman walked into the room playing his English horn…

One by open more instruments appeared, much to the astonishment of the surrounding crowd. “What Child is This?” began to swell as a cello, a obo and a harp join the small ensemble in the James S. McDonnel Space Hanger and gradually their sound grows, becoming more and more powerful. Before you know it, a full flash mob orchestra and choir have gathered to treat the day’s visitors to the National Air and Space Museum with a medley of Holiday carols.

Drummers and brass sound the fanfare for the second offering in the group’s holiday song medley as they play and sing a stirring version of the Ukrainian Bell Carol, featuring brass, drums, chorus and orchestra. Astonished and amazed, the crowd listens to the heartwarming seasonal music.

Over 100 airmen made this video musical moment in 2014 and each year these talented airmen assemble in a surprise location to perform their music with skill and precision. We look forward to hearing this year’s performance from them and watching them play again this year. Where will they appear or what they’ll play is a mystery… but wherever and whatever that is, a crowd will surely rush to get a glimpse of this flash orchestra. See for yourself, and check out the video.
