Clay Shephard was only 22 when he passed away in May of 2015. He died because of a drug overdose. Even though his family was heartbroken over the death, they decided to write an obituary for Clay, one that would soon take the Internet by storm.
The family began the obituary by talking about Clay’s life. They wanted him to be remembered by the good man that he was and the fun-loving son and friend that he was to his family.
Clay was the youngest child of four, and he lived in North Carolina. The message from the family is to love others. Love your family, and understand each other. Take time to spend together. Offer encouragement, and don’t be afraid to ask for help if it’s needed.
Clay’s family knew that he had been using drugs. He had been in rehab a few times, but he would always go back to the drugs that seemed to control his life. The family doesn’t want to blame drugs for Clay’s death.
They simply want to inspire other families to pay attention to each other before another life is taken from a drug overdose. They don’t want others to have the same pain that they have been through, a pain that could have been prevented.
